Iyabo Vibez is one of those Artist who light up the room every time they show up, not loud , not flamboyant, but definitely moves the crowd.
We had the opportunity to speak with her and we have one word to describe the moment. FUN!

RC: Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to have this conversation. Can you please introduce yourself to our Readers.?
Iyabo: Hi, thanks for Having me, also known as Iyabo vibes, I'm an Artist, a song writer , a Music Producer.
RC: I noticed that @frankrichboy follows you on IG.. Is there a connection, or he's perhaps just a fan?
Iyabo: Uhmmm, frankrich boy, being a fan, I'm not sure. So I did a cover and tagged him, but I wasn't sure he saw it, cos it took him about a year to re-post the video, and that was because one of my cousins has this friend who is married to blossom chukwujeku, the actor, so she saw the video, liked it and had to tag Frank Edwards again. Then he saw it, and eventually re-posted it and followed me. That's how come we started following each other on IG.
RC: Ok.. I thought that was a pointer to the fact that you have roots in gospel? Would you ever consider a Gospel Album?
Iyabo: Hmmm a gospel Album, Yes of course. I would consider a gospel album, but not now, later in the future, something like kanye West's "Jesus is King".
RC: Let's talk about "More Life" what inspired it?
Iyabo: More life!!! Hmmm like the name implies, times are hard but God keeps making a way, pushing us through, you know, giving us reasons to know that our efforts are not in vain. There are so many things that people wouldn't want Us to get to..they laugh and eat with you, but they don't want us moving forward. You know the bad belle people... So the song is pretty much about winning despite all odds.
RC: I'm curious, how long have you been doing music?
Iyabo: I've been doing music since I was a kid, but officially I started in 2018, so that's like 3 years plus. RC: I can't help but notice that you've got really nice/cool videos... Who shot the videos?
Iyabo: OK, Victor E.D Peters, he's super good. He's been the one shooting my official videos. And for the Covers, Sam Visusal does that.
RC: I saw a comment on one of your post the other day, the person said "you re breath taking" obviously you are both physically and Artistically, so when you hear comments like that , how does that make you feel.?
Iyabo: (laughs out loud)... Such comment, I can't lie it makes me feel good. I feel good about it. It makes me know that people see what I'm doing and they Appreciate what I'm doing.
RC: Of all your songs, the ones I've heard .. "If only" is my favorite, can you tell us a bit about the back end story, what inspired the lyrics?
Iyabo; laughs out loud, why does every one think there is a story behind it.
Well it is not a current story. It's something that happened in the past, So it's just reminiscing about how it felt, and writing about it.
RC: Are you currently signed on to any record label?
Iyabo: Yes I am signed to a Label, "AEE" Ada Ewele Entertainment, run by my older sister OGE, yea she's my boss. (chuckes)
RC: Back in the day, for people to become Artists, they had to submit a demo to a record label and hope they got called back? How did you step into the industry?
Iyabo: Like I said I'm signed to a Label owned by my sister, so she inspired me to step in, as at the time I did.
RC: I'm sure you must have faced some challenges, kindly share one or two with us.
Iyabo: I have faced challenges, I mean being female in the industry sometimes is really tiring, because, many times your body is the price, or you are not given the chance to get into some kind of places because of your gender and all that. Almost everyone seeks to take advantage. The politics in the music business too, is really crazy. I guess these are some of the challenges that we face as Artists.
RC: I just have to say this , something about you reminds of Jazzmine Sullivan, has anyone said that before?
Iyabo: hey wow.. (Laughs out loud) Jazzmine Sullivan I don't know if my head should swell O. I've listened to her growing up, and her voice is phenomenal. I'm inspired right now...Thank you.
RC: Who are your musical influences?
Iyabo: Hmmmmm., A wide range of Artist, from the Old school, to the New. The likes of Beyonce, Jazmine Sullivan, Jessie J, coming down to Nigeria, Wizkid, I love him so much, Burna boy, and a lot of others who have their act together, you know, pushing hard.
RC: Tell us about ICHORD
Iyabo: Ichord is just a series of covers that I've been doing, So, I record the video for my fans to enjoy, Tag the Artist, you know how it goes.
RC: Would you say the industry is rewarding as it is right now?
What do you wish could be different?
Iyabo: Right now at my stage it's not rewarding yet, am I getting fan love, people who appreciate my craft? YES! And I love them so much and appreciate that, but I know there are still heights to reach for, then I can say it is rewarding.
RC: Are we expecting an Album soon?
Iyabo: Yes, pretty soon, very soon Infact. I assure you guys.
RC: Which African artist would you like to have a collaboration with?
Iyabo: I'd like to do a song with, Wizkid, Burnaboy, Tems, hmmmn and Fireboy. There are so many others oo.. But I think, getting to do something with these guys would go a long way.
RC: Lastly which one do you prefer , performing live or working in the studio or cooking in the studio like my team calls it.
Iyabo: I believe as an artist, you should be able to do both. Some Artist can move the crowd, but when they get in the studio na war.. But the way I see it, an Artist should be able to do them all. Sing live, perform and record in the studio.
